A modern approach to learning

At Sheffield, we make sure your learning is practical, inspiring, and relevant to real clinical and scientific challenges.

Our students benefit from a rich combination of expert-led teaching, real human plastinated specimens, and advanced digital resources. You’ll be immersed in anatomy through structured, practical sessions designed to help you visualise and understand the human body in depth.

We’ve recently invested in 22 Anatomage tables, one of the most advanced 3D anatomy visualisation tools available. This makes the University of Sheffield number one in the world for Anatomage content delivery.  These full size interactive digital tables let you explore the human body layer by layer, rotate and isolate structures, and even simulate clinical conditions. It’s a powerful tool for linking anatomical knowledge to real life healthcare scenarios.

Our collection of von Hagens plastinated specimens offer a truly unique and powerful learning experience. These are real human bodies and anatomical structures, preserved using the advanced plastination process, a technique that replaces water and fat with durable polymers to maintain the body’s natural form, texture, and intricate detail.

Unlike models or digital images, plastinated specimens provide an unparalleled level of anatomical accuracy and realism. You will examine muscles, organs, nerves, and vessels, just as they appear in the human body.  These specimens will enhance your understanding of the human form by offering a real three dimensional perspective.

Anatomy is foundational to all clinical and scientific disciplines. At Sheffield, we deliver anatomical education that is clinically integrated, academically rigorous, and practically applied ensuring our graduates are well prepared for the challenges of real world healthcare and science.
