Information for employers
Our CPD courses have been created to meet the needs of the NHS, and provide students with the credentials and expertise needed to enhance patient care and service delivery in your organisation.
Why choose Sheffield for your employees' development?
Flexible study options
Online and part-time course options mean students can fit their studies around clinical schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery. It also means students can take what they’ve learnt and apply it to their practice in real-time.
Applied knowledge
Our courses are designed to enhance students’ leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, allowing them to make substantial and measurable contributions to your workforce.
Improve staff morale and teamwork
Your staff will build deeper expertise and stronger teamwork by learning collaboratively with other medical and health professionals.
Access world-leading research
Access the University's world-leading research and industry-inspired curriculum to address skills gaps within your organisation. Students effectively act as a bridge between academia and practice, bringing the latest knowledge back to your workplace to upskill colleagues.
Our Sheffield graduates come out very prepared for their clinical work, and I’ve always felt this is because of the strong learning frameworks they’ve developed on the [Advanced Clinical Practice] programme.

Our professional development courses
We offer a range of programmes, modules and short courses to support your team's development. Each pathway offers their own benefits, depending on your budget, your employee's time commitments, and the needs of your service.
Choose your development pathway
- Postgraduate programmes (MSc/MMedSci, PGDip, PGCert) - these comprehensive, masters level qualifications are ideal for career progression and staff looking to move into advanced roles. Programmes typically last from 1 - 3 years part-time, and a number of our courses are taught entirely online.
- CPD modules - these standalone short courses offer a flexible, cost-effective approach to focused skills development. A number of our previous students have used the time spent on CPD modules to contribute towards a postgraduate qualification.
Fees and funding
Fees for our postgraduate courses and standalone CPD modules are updated annually, and can be found on individual course pages.
Funding may be available for our postgraduate programmes, depending on your employee's fee status, where they live and the course they're studying.
NHS England, NIHR, or professional bodies may also offer bursaries or grants to cover the cost of tuition fees. For more information, reach out to your education or training department, or your local Training Hub.
