The University of Sheffield has charity places available for the London Marathon 2027, giving you the opportunity to complete an unforgettable challenge while raising funds for research at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN).

Every step you take and every pound you raise will directly support groundbreaking motor neuron disease research at the University of Sheffield.

Your fundraising will help advance the life-changing work taking place at SITraN (Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience), bringing researchers closer to new treatments - and ultimately, a cure - for this devastating disease.

What's included?

Each charity place for Team Sheffield is worth £480, but successful applicants will pay just a £100 registration fee. In return, you'll commit to raising a minimum of £2,000 to support MND research at the University of Sheffield.

As part of Team Sheffield, you'll receive:

  • Your guaranteed London Marathon 2027 charity place (at a discounted fee to you of £100)
  • Your own personalised Team Sheffield running vest or t-shirt
  • A fundraising pack, including training plans
  • One-to-one fundraising support throughout your journey
  • Access to our race day cheer point
  • Invitations to exclusive University events
  • An unforgettable experience as part of Team Sheffield

Former Team Sheffield runner Henry knows just how special the experience can be.

Henry raised £17, 118 for SITraN (including gift aid)

I felt incredibly lucky to have been given the spot so I wanted to achieve and perform the best that I possibly could for both the running and the fundraising. A marathon is how I see life and my career…long, uncomfortable at times, but built on resilience and constant improvement. It's you vs you. Just keep moving forward and get a little better every day. The London Marathon gives insight to the everyday invisible struggles that people carry and helps raise awareness for them.
