Khaled Saad
Khaled studied A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Arabic, which meant that he could understand the course material, especially the maths. The skills he gained through his A-Levels really gave him the confidence and competency needed to have a head start on his course.
Although Khaled had applied to many universities through clearing he found that the University of Sheffield was one of the most supportive, from the application all the way to his arrival.
He said: “The process was easy and his experience transformed from an overwhelming decision to an enjoyable and exciting process.”
When he applied to ACSE through clearing, he loved that it was a one of a kind department in the UK as well as the best in Europe. This gave him confidence in the course and that it would be very specialised and tailored to his needs.
He saw it as a great opportunity and a chance to enjoy the quality of British education at university level, after initially not wanting to study in the UK.
Since joining ACSE, Khaled has enjoyed his studies, including taking part in extra-curricular projects such as the ROV MATE international underwater robotics competition held in California. Working with an interdisciplinary team from the University of Sheffield Engineering faculty, Khaled helped to design and create an underwater vehicle which was then entered into the competition – a first for an UK team.
