Moving from London to pursue her passion for Electronic and Electrical Engineering, she shares her experience in the department and at the University of Sheffield.

Ameerul Aiman Bin Shahizam Electrical and Electronic Engineering (with an Industrial Placement Year)

As part of his MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Aiman completed an Industrial Placement Year as a Control Engineering Intern at GE Renewable Energy. After many successes over the course of his Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree, including being shortlisted for a Leadership award at the Inspiring Student Worker Awards and winning the People's Prize 'Champion of Champions' at 'Engineering, You're Hired', Aiman is now moving on to a graduate job with his previous employer from his Industrial Placement Year. Garima is an international student from India who is currently studying for an MEng degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering at the University of Sheffield. In her spare time, she actively contributes as a valued member of the Women in Engineering Society, and participates in the Sheffield Engineering Leadership and Service Award (SELSA), a programme that equips her with invaluable leadership skills and allows her to create a profound impact in both research and industry. With her rich and diverse university experiences, Garima provides a comprehensive insight into the vibrant environment at Sheffield.

Ece Erkan Electrical and Electronic Engineering (with an Industrial Placement Year)

Ece is an international student from Turkey in her final year of study for a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has had a remarkable experience studying at Sheffield so far. She did a year in industry as an Electronics Design Engineer, is a recipient of the Electronics Weekly Bright Sparks award, and attended a hackathon with a cross-faculty University of Sheffield engineering team which has led to a graduate role! We caught up with her to find out about her experience studying with us in the department, and the role she’ll be moving onto at Siemens Mobility after graduating this year.
