Call for Submissions

Are you growing up multilingual with Chinese heritage? Do you wish to share your unique journey and feelings, be they joys, challenges, dreams, or concerns? We would love to hear from you.

Why We Have This Call: We invite young individuals like you, who are growing up multilingual with Chinese heritage, to participate in a global research project. We believe that your unique experiences and thoughts will illuminate the complexities and realities of multilingual upbringing. Participating in this event offers not only a chance to showcase your talents but also an opportunity to enhance your resume. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation awarded by the University of Sheffield in the UK. Outstanding works will be exhibited in Sheffield, UK, and shared with everyone through an online exhibition.

Who Can Participate: Individuals aged 11-18 with Chinese heritage, residing in a country where Chinese is not an official language.

What Can Be Submitted: Share your story related to the theme of "growing up multilingual with Chinese heritage." Your sharing can take various forms – it could be a written piece (e.g., essays, poems, lyrics, etc.), a drawing, a photograph, a song, a video, or any other form of creative expression.

We want to reassure you that we're not solely seeking "happy" or "positive" stories, but authentic thoughts and experiences. You are also encouraged to use any language/dialect or mix of languages/dialects that you feel most comfortable with, whether formal or informal.
