On September 21 2021 the Adults Department at the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield came together to celebrate the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival with an interactive and fun online quiz; organised to give students, friends and members of the general public a taste of Chinese language, culture and customs.
The quiz questions were planned and organized by the full-time SCI teacher Li Jia, who also acted as co-host during the event, alongside fellow SCI teacher Wang Hui and Project Coordinator Olivia Hodson-Barnes.
The quiz itself was split into three rounds; Mid-Autumn festival customs and etiquette, traditional Chinese festival etiquette and taboos & General knowledge.
The participants actively participated in the quiz and the answers were revealed at the end of each question. After each question was read to the participants, everyone was asked to submit their answer using the Zoom Chat function and after a few tense seconds, the answer was revealed!
Co-host Wang Hui assisted by keeping a score of everyone’s answers and corresponding points.
In addition to taking part in the quiz, various prizes were available as well! The SCI provided 1 x £20 1st place voucher, 2 x £10 2nd place vouchers and 3 x £5 3rd place vouchers!
Based on their combined scores from all three rounds, Hui and Olivia announced the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and the E-vouchers were then emailed to students after the event.
Thank you so much! :)
