It’s very rewarding to see local students share the stage with trained professionals, and the experience was invaluable for them. They definitely held their own, and the quality was on display from all partners throughout the event at the University of Sheffield's Foundry venue in the Student's Union building.
On top of being a promotional sponsor for this dynamic event, the Sheffield Confucius Institute took the chance to display our Chinese cultural pop-up stalls that were a hit with event goers - who dabbled in Chinese Calligraphy and our Chinese Tea Ceremony.
The University of Sheffield’s contribution to the event saw a host of solo musicians and group acts, presenting many different facets of entertainment. It was certainly wholesome to see the students presented with such a unique form of collaboration!
The University offering consisted of Autumn of Nothing (a student band from the Department of Music), a solo guitar performance by David Saxby, a violin performance from University of Sheffield PHD student Mohammad Alzankawi, and other performances from MA musicians from the Department of Music.
One of the important pillars of the Sheffield Confucius Institute is Innovation. We believe that this event firmly achieves this goal in its collaborative nature and its community application, plus with all the unique experience enjoyed by our students.
Here’s to more exciting collaborations in the future!
