Situated Humanities
Engages critical perspectives to understand the social, political, postcolonial and environmental impacts of architecture, landscape and urban space. We engage history and humanities as pivotal in understanding the future potential of architecture
Designing Just Spaces
Challenges social injustices through the design of equitable spaces and inclusive practices. Underpinned by processes of participation and public engagement, our research seeks to understand diverse experiences of space and engage people in design processes, as a catalyst for social change.
Building + Urban Science
Develops novel methods to understand and improve the performance of buildings and urban systems and environments at varying scales. We examine how occupants influence and are influenced by these systems and environments.
Nature Cultures
Explores the relationship between nature and culture in urban areas. Through a range of projects, from shaping socially inclusive places, to producing innovative ecologies and technologies for urban greening, we study how people’s health and wellbeing is impacted by aspects of space and landscape.
