I am a PhD candidate at the University of Sheffield, with a background in architecture. Holding a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) from China University of Mining and Technology, I further honed my expertise by completing a Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainable Architecture Studies at the University of Sheffield.
My research interests encompass occupant behaviour, data-driven energy modelling, and housing stock renovation, particularly focusing on energy use behaviour in micro-climates, the energy performance of high-rise housing, and the implementation of domestic low-carbon solutions.

Project title:
The impact of low-carbon district heating on achieving net zero urban housing: A study of the urban high-rise housing stock in Chengdu, Southwestern China
Project outline:
In my current research, I delve into the impact of low-carbon district heating systems on urban housing to achieve net-zero emissions. Centred on the urban housing of Chengdu, my study utilises dynamic housing stock energy modelling to develop strategies for adapting to future climate scenarios.
A significant aspect of my work is the development of a context-specific archetypal method that integrates parametric simulation with local meteorological observations (on a neighbourhood scale), collected housing data, and on-site energy metered data to accurately model the energy performance and carbon emission equivalence of the city’s high-rise housing stock. This predictive model aims to bridge the current gap between existing housing energy performance and the ambitious net-zero emission targets, thereby making a substantial contribution to the field of sustainable urban housing renovation.Primary supervisor: Dr Chengzhi Peng
