Studying Landscape Architecture at Sheffield reshaped my perspective

My 17 years of collective experience includes a wide range of facilities including Residential, Resorts, Hotels, Farm Houses, Urban High-Rise commercial complexes, Mixed used Complexes, High–rise and Mid-rise Condominium Buildings and Large scale Residential Development. I am a Licensed Architect with the COA, and Registered Associate Landscape Architect with ISOLA, India. Skills I've gained include: sensitivity to landscape quality, understanding of the arts and a humanistic approach to design, ability to analyse problems in terms of design and physical form, technical competence to translate a design into a built work, skills in all aspects of professional practice including management and professional ethics, perform well individually and in activities requiring team works/group efforts.

 

My Master’s in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield fundamentally shaped my approach to design back home in Hyderabad. Studying in the UK’s greenest city and exploring European public spaces taught me how green infrastructure, sustainable drainage, and social connectivity transform urban environments. Collaborating with a global cohort broadened my perspective, while rigorous studio work honed my technical and analytical skills. Today, in Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding urban landscape, I apply these lessons daily—adapting international best practices in ecological design, climate resilience, and community-centred public realms to suit the unique cultural, environmental, and spatial context of the city.

Taking full advantage of the studio culture and practical site analysis modules was transformational. Working on complex, real-world site briefs—balancing urban ecology, topography, and public space dynamics—moved my learning out of the classroom. It taught me how to read a landscape critically and translate abstract spatial concepts into buildable, human-centred designs

Late studio nights built global friendships, while traveling across Europe deepened my understanding of public space, inspiring a holistic, community-focused approach to creating sustainable landscapes.
