What happens next
We’re delighted that you will be coming to study with us here in the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations. We've collated some of the key information and links you'll need before you join us.
This pre-arrival information has been prepared to help you in advance of joining us, and then during your first few weeks as needed.
Before you arrive at the University, you'll be required to complete some pre-registration tasks. These are released in two phases (phase one: May to August; phase two: September). During the second phase of pre-registration, you will be asked to select your modules for the year.
Once you have arrived, you will be required to complete an in person ID check (this is where you’ll pick up your UCard and complete your registration).
Once you’ve completed the online registration tasks, you’ll be sent a link to the online booking system via email, where you can select a time to attend your in-person registration event.
For international students, you have the same pre-registration tasks to complete - but you'll also need to attend an in-person Right to Study check in September (you’ll be emailed at the beginning of September asking you to book an appointment).
During welcome week, you will be invited to attend a series of events including a general welcome from the Head of School and your programme lead(s), as well as more general information sessions from the library and the IT team.
If you have any questions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [EMAIL]
Register
Make sure that you have completed your online pre-registration. This step is important as it will grant you access to your University MUSE account and University email inbox.
Once you have completed your registration, your student handbook (student login required) will be your one-stop guide for information during your time as a student in the school.
Once you have completed your registration, you will also be able to access your teaching timetable.
Check your University emails
Be sure to regularly check your University emails. This is how we'll communicate with you from now on, and you'll be receiving lots of key information and updates from us.
You can find guidance on how to set this up. Once your account is set up and you have accessed MUSE, you can view your University emails under 'My Services'.
If you have problems accessing MUSE or setting up Multi-factor Authentication, visit:
Are there any resources I can look at now?
You will be provided with everything you need once you join us, but if you want to get a head start, you can access your Student handbook online once you've registered.
