Stefania Vicari, with Kate Weiner, Mike Thelwall and Hannah Ditchfield will explore cultural influences, practices and implications of cancer predictive genetics for women's health, with a focus on individuals with an increased risk of gynaecological cancer. The project’s core aim is to shape more inclusive discourses and practices of gynaecological cancer prevention.
The project is in partnership with leading gynaecological cancer charities The Eve Appeal and Peaches Womb Cancer Trust and hereditary cancer patient organisations Lynch Syndrome UK and The Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline. It is guided by an advisory board that brings together patients, health professionals and advocates: Tracy Smith, Wendy Watson MBE, Caroline Mitchell, Laura Monje-Garcia, Julian Barwell, Terry McVeigh, Kelly Kohut and Neil Ryan.
The project will start in January 2026 and run for 39 months.
