Randeep Ramesh is The Guardian’s chief leader writer, in charge of the paper’s view of the issues of the day. An award-winning journalist Randeep has worked as a foreign correspondent, run the paper’s City desk and been the paper’s social affairs editor. He is a graduate of Imperial College and Cambridge University.

He won Scoop of the Year and What the Papers Say Investigation of the Year for his work on parliamentary lobbying scandals. In 2015 he was nominated for The Orwell Prize for Exposing Britain’s Social Evils for a series of pieces for The Guardian that exposed how bookmakers have targeted poorer areas with high speed, high stakes gambling machines.
