SPERI's Doctoral Researchers Network (DRN) organised a hugely successful one day conference on 10th June 2024. The conference theme was 'Where to now? Emerging themes and directions in Critical Political Economy'.

Around 40 presenters and discussants contributed to the proceedings across 9 panels and a roundtable. Topics covered in panel discussions ranged from financialisation, inequality, climate, authoritarianism and state violence, development, industrial policy, and social reproduction. See more pictures and a full breakdown of the panels and presenters in this X thread.

The final roundtable welcomed Dr Silke Trommer (Globalizations), Dr Adrienne Roberts (New Political Economy) and Dr Aida Hozic (Review of International Political Economy) to offer guidance to early-career researchers on publishing in top political economy journals.

The discussions continued in the pub garden into the evening, where participants made new connections and friends. The success of the event is a testament to the organisation and dedication of our incredible DRN co-convenors. We are so grateful to them for building this community to early-career political economists, for which there is a clearly a big appetite!

We look forward to finding ways to continue building this community. If you are interested in joining the SPERI DRN mailing list, please contact one of the co-convenors
