Why did you choose the MSc Health Economics and Decision Modelling course at the University of Sheffield?
I first heard about this particular course due to a recommendation from a previous alumnus. After researching other available courses, I felt the Sheffield course had the most interesting module content and was best aligned with enabling my career goals.
Can you tell us about any specific projects, research, or case studies you worked on that you found particularly rewarding?
The dissertation component of the course was particularly rewarding as this felt like an opportunity to apply and consolidate skills and knowledge acquired across all modules of the course. This project provided a great opportunity to go through the process of developing a project scope, conducting an in-depth piece of research and then presenting the findings on a relevant, practical topic.
What do you think is the key takeaway from your time on the MSc program, and how has it shaped your perspective on health economics?
My key takeaway would be that this is a field that is constantly evolving, with module content up to date and providing details on recent changes within the health economics and HTA world. This was a motivating factor in my decision to pursue a health economics career as the evolving landscape provides an opportunity to shape future policy and methods developments.
What advice would you give to students who are considering enrolling in the MSc Health Economics and Decision Modelling course at the University of Sheffield?
Definitely go for it! The course is a perfect blend of technical, hands-on modules along with theory-based modules. Whilst the course is challenging, it is thoughtfully structured to ensure you gradually develop the technical skillset to tackle some of the more complex topics.
