Vicon MX Motion Capture System
There are two Vicon systems: one housed in the Mappin Mining Block and one housed in the Sound and Motion Capture.
The system in the Mining block consists of a room for storing equipment, a desktop computer, as well as ten Vicon T160 cameras with sub-millimetre accuracy and up to 120 frames per second. Each camera has a 16 megapixel resolution designed for motion capture and tracking in high detail, as well as infra-red strobe, 18mm lens, and remote lens control.
The cameras can either be used outside or inside, and in this room, the cameras are strategically placed to cover all points of the stage.
The system in the Kroto building consists of a control room and a work space. It has twenty two, rigidly fixed, Vantage V5 cameras, which have: sub-millimetre accuracy, up to 420 frames per second and have 5 megapixel resolution. They have 8.5mm lenses, 70 degree secondary optics and 22 high powered IR LED strobe @ 850nm. These are controlled by a desktop computer running Vicon Tracker software.
