Nao (pronounced now) is an autonomous, programmable humanoid robot.

The NAO robots have 25 degrees of freedom and a humanoid shape. They contain numerous sensors in their head, hands and feet; have four directional microphones to enable both human interaction and voice recognition. The NAO robots also contain two cameras in the head to recognise shapes and objects, as well as avoiding collisions with objects in the environment. NAO can also access the internet via ethernet or WiFi.

NAO can be programmed using visual programming tools, or Python, C++ or Java, and can be programmed to perform basic tasks such as walking, talking, standing up and sitting down, and can also be programmed to complete tasks such as voice and facial recognition. They also have their own operating system; NAOqi OS.
