What is RockMIP?

RockMIP is a model intercomparison project, within the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation (LC3M), a ten-year project that studies enhanced rock weathering for greenhouse gas removal.

RockMIP (Rock Model Intercomparison Project) is designed to evaluate the credibility and reliability of simulations of enhanced rock weathering (ERW), a proposed carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategy that is currently attracting significant scientific interest and economic mobilization.

Effective deployment of ERW at scale will very likely require models with robust and demonstrable predictive skill to foster academic and public confidence in modeled CDR projections for individual deployments. We aim to develop a framework for model parameterization, inputs, outputs or model validation against empirical data.
