Since 2018, Dr Jon Burchell has been working on a series of projects focused upon breaking down the barriers to effective collaboration between local authorities and their voluntary and community sector partners and building stronger models of place-based on social action.
Through running the Enabling Social Action project for the UK's department of Digital Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and a subsequent ESRC funded project on collaborative responses to community need during the Covid-19 pandemic, Jon has been part of building the Enabling Social Action Network of practitioners active in this field. He has also been involved in shaping a model for enhancing place-based collaborative working which has informed local authority practice in many locations across the UK.
