I chose the University of Sheffield because of its strong academic reputation and the practical, industry-focused nature of the MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
My decision to study Logistics and Supply Chain Management was strongly influenced by my undergraduate background in Electrical Engineering. During my degree, I developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills and gained exposure to systems thinking, optimisation, and process efficiency. Through academic projects and case studies, I became increasingly interested in how engineering principles are applied beyond technical design, particularly in the planning, coordination, and optimisation of complex supply networks. I realised that effective supply chain management plays a critical role in the successful delivery of engineering products, from procurement of components to production planning and distribution. This motivated me to pursue formal training in logistics and supply chain management, allowing me to complement my technical background with business, operations, and strategic decision-making skills.
By studying this course at Sheffield, I aim to bridge engineering and supply chain management, positioning myself for a career in operations, logistics, or supply chain strategy within technology-driven or manufacturing organisations.
Sheffield’s emphasis on research-informed teaching, excellent learning facilities, and strong links with industry make it an ideal environment to develop both technical and managerial competencies. The city itself is a hidden gem. The people in and around the city are always nice to you and, as an international student, I can say that Sheffield is like my second home.
