In October 2024, Gwilym joined the Centre for Decent Work (CDW) as a doctoral researcher. His research looks at how technology shapes work in the logistics sectors of South Yorkshire and Southern California.

Gwilym's research is interested in the implementation of technology over the labour process. Looking at how interactions between the workplace and the wider political-economy determine how technology is implemented and shapes working conditions, skills, autonomy and struggle. Gwilym is also interested in forms of digital production and supply chains in the global economy, trade union politics and the experiences of marginalised groups in the workplace.
