Ruth Brown
Chief Executive, Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
Ruth is Chief Executive of Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust, a specialised children’s trust providing physical and mental healthcare to children from across the UK. She is also a trustee of Voluntary Action Sheffield and The Children’s Hospital Charity.
Ruth has a number of regional and national leadership roles including Co-Chair of the National Children’s Hospital Alliance – a national collaboration between 11 member Trusts in England. She is the lead CEO for two major collaborations in South Yorkshire, the Acute Federation – a provider collaborative of five acute hospitals, and the Children and Young People’s Alliance – a collaboration across all sectors.
Ruth has 36 years of NHS experience and strives to be a leader that creates a compassionate and inclusive NHS for all. Throughout her career she has worked across regional and local systems in both provider and commissioning roles and has a wealth of experience leading complex change, promoting improved patient and colleague experience, creating strategy and leading collaborations within and across organisations.
Ruth is an alumni of the University of Sheffield and lives in Sheffield. She completed the Executive MBA with the Management School graduating in 2014. Since becoming a CEO, she has reconnected with the School, speaking at several events and Masterclasses on leadership topics. She is pleased to be joining the Advisory Board and is looking forward to working with others to develop the strategic direction and gain a deeper insight into the workforce of the future.
I am excited to be joining the Advisory Board and really looking forward to working with others to develop the strategic direction of the Management School. I’m hoping to gain a deeper insight into the workforce of the future and I hope I can offer further connections into the public sector.
