Ann-marie's PhD thesis focused on age discrimination in the workplace, examining how age intersects with other social identities, such as gender and social class, to increase the likelihood of individuals experiencing discrimination.
In addition to studying the inequalities faced by older workers, Ann-marie is also interested in understanding why individuals choose to extend their working lives and the factors that constrain or enable these decisions.
Ann-marie is engaged in a large, cross-institutional research project investigating social mobility in the workplace. This project explores the barriers and opportunities that shape individuals’ career trajectories, contributing to a deeper understanding of how organisations can foster equitable career progression.
