Hongmei Sun is a Lecturer in Operations Management at Sheffield University Management School, the University of Sheffield, the United Kingdom. Hongmei gained her PhD in Business Administration (with a specialisation in Management Science) at the Ivey Business School, Western University, Canada. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield, she worked at York University, Canada, as a postdoctoral research fellow and instructor. Hongmei’s research interests focus on applying analytical models and data analytic approaches to analyse real-world problems in pharmaceutical/vaccine supply chains, closed-loop supply chains, blockchain-enabled supply chains, and other supply chain contents.

Hongmei is passionate about teaching students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her teaching portfolio includes modules in supply chain management (e.g. “Coordinating Demand and Supply”, “Reverse Logistics and Closed-Loop Supply Chains”, and “Supply Chain Technology”) and foundational decision analysis (e.g. “Analysis for Decision Making”).
Her teaching style is interactive and student-centred, bridging theory with hands-on experiences like SAP ERP workshops, VR simulations, and digital activities. These immersive methods bring concepts to life, helping students connect academic learning with real-world applications. Through case-based learning and collaborative activities, Hongmei encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges with confidence. Her teaching objective is to create a supportive and inclusive environment that inspires students to embrace innovation and thrive in their future careers.
