The materials draw on findings from an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded project titled ‘Transitions of Young Workers in the UK Labour Market’, led by Professor Jason Heyes. The project investigated the ability of younger workers living in the UK to make successful transitions in the labour market and the barriers that might prevent them from making progress in their careers.
Project team members Dr Stefanie Williamson, Dr Kaidong Yu, Dr Edward Yates and Professor Jason Heyes, based in the Sheffield University Management School, were responsible for creating the content, in cooperation with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) staff.
Professor Jason Heyes said, “Given the immense difficulties that many young people face in the UK labour market, we were delighted to be able to collaborate with the CIPD and translate our research findings into resources that will hopefully help young people access and remain in employment and also help employers strengthen their skills pipelines”.
