The Academy of Social Sciences has around 1,400 individual Fellows, each of whom has been elected by peers for the excellence of their work and their wider impact, as scholars in academia or leaders in a range of other professional sectors. Professor Hodgson’s scholarship focuses on the transformation of health and care, manifested in his extensive co-produced, funded research projects to effect change in policy and organisation and excellent publications in the field.
The Academy of Social Sciences is the national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences. Its mission is to promote social science in the United Kingdom for public benefit. Academy Fellows are leading professional social scientists from academia and the public and private sectors.
Professor Hodgson said: “I’m delighted and honoured to receive this award. At the present time, we are all acutely aware of the need to work collectively and collaboratively to strengthen our systems of health and care across society, and I would like to acknowledge the support of many colleagues and friends, across disciplines and beyond academia, from whom I continually learn.”
Professor Rachael Finn, Interim Dean of Sheffield University Management School, added: “This excellent achievement is richly deserved for Damian. This accolade recognises his outstanding scholarship and contribution to the field of Organisation Studies, making a positive contribution to the policy and organisation of health and care services.”
