This year’s Winter Prize Giving and Thank You celebration began with a warm welcome by the Dean of the Management School, Professor Fraser Mcleay.

Professor Fraser Mcleay congratulated Prize Winners and Contributors on their amazing achievements and extended his welcome to their guests and families. He went on to introduce the evening’s line up of events before welcoming our alumni guest speaker, Callum van Dyk (MSc Occupational Psychology 2020), Psychologist at Pearn Kandola LLP.

Callum shared invaluable insights into his experience of how our work can influence our homelife, and vice versa, in relation to the amount of attention we are able to dedicate to both these areas of our daily lives.

Professor Fraser Macleay then began the evening’s presentations, starting with the Management School’s prestigious Dean’s List award for 2025. The addition of this year’s new members brings this exclusive community of winners to 100 - an incredible milestone for the prestigious award established at the Management School in 2018.

Dean’s List Winners Sophie Parkin and Sukeerthi Sundarapu were invited to the stage to receive their Dean’s List trophy and certificate awarded by the Dean, who also shared highlights of just some of their impressive achievements in social responsibility and employability during their time at Sheffield.

Next, our University and sponsored prizes winners were announced by Professor Eleanor Davies, Associate Dean for Education at the Management School.

Prizes included the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) prize awarded to Xinghao Wang, followed by prizes sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) awarded to: Matylda Bigus for Best Performance in the Taught Programme MSc International Management & Marketing (IMM), Mia Bake for Best Performance in the Taught Programme MSc Marketing Management Practice (MMP), and Sophie Parkin for Best Marketing Project on the MBA Programme. The Geoff Sykes Memorial Prize also went to Sophie Parkin.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Angela Carter, our prize sponsor for the Just Development Prize for Best Portfolio prize who joined us for the evening’s celebrations and our alumni guest Callum Van Dyk to present the Pearn Kandola Best Dissertation Prize in Occupational and Work Psychology to winner Molly Atherton.

Professor Eleanor Davies continued the presentation with the Top Performer awards going to Molly Atherton, Sophie Parkin, Zenia Wadia, Sebla Can, Luke Whittington, Rebecca Thompson, Matylda Bigus, Mia Blake, Eint Shin, and Rustam Mussin each for the best overall performance on their respective programmes.

Then it was over to Dr Lina Kloviene, Senior University Teacher in Managerial and Corporate Economics to extend a warm thank you to our fantastic student contributors. Students were invited to the stage and presented with their certificates in recognition of their contributions as Sheffield MBA Ambassadors, Student Ambassador, Student Communication Creator, Snowflake Champion, Recruitment Campaign Caller, and as Academic Representatives.

After the formal presentation, Dean Professor Fraser McLeay returned to the stage to give the evening’s closing remarks. Looking back on his own professional journey he ended with some points of reflection:

  1. Leadership doesn’t always come with a title and isn’t always praised.
  2. The benefits of having an international outlook from working, living and experiencing other countries and cultures.
  3. Be prepared to make mistakes and welcome them as learning opportunities.

The evening ended with guests and their families enjoying drinks and food and celebrating their amazing achievements.

Congratulations and thank you to all our Prize Winners and Contributors! A special thanks to our sponsors, guest speakers and presenters for making this such a special celebration.
