Student reps

The University places great value on the opinions of it’s students and there are various opportunities for you to get involved, both to have your say and also to represent the views of other students.

Being a student representative is rewarding work and can help you develop useful skills such as communication skills. It can also give you a greater understanding of how the University works as well as enabling you to play a role in the decision making of your department and/or faculty.

Each programme at the Management School has its own Staff-Student Forum. These meetings provide an opportunity for staff and students to discuss matters – academic or non-academic – relating to any aspect of the programme. The students normally elect the chairman, secretary and other student representatives. Meetings are held during semester time as necessary, and usually, if there is sufficient business, at least once a semester.

In addition, we will be recruiting for some super reps. This will be a paid role where you will have the opportunity to represent your fellow students at Education Committee meetings.

Student ambassadors

As a Student Ambassador you will support our Open Days and Applicant Days. This could involve delivering presentations on your time at university or participating in Q&A sessions. You may also be asked to provide us with student testimonials or contribute to prospective student communications. If you are enthusiastic about the University, have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team this is the role for you!

This is a paid role and applications will open in September. In the meantime, if you'd like to find out more about the role you can get in touch with Linsey and Amy on sums-marketing@sheffield.ac.uk.

Content creators

As a Content Creator you will have the opportunity to produce a wide range of digital content to promote student life at the Management School and in Sheffield. This will involve creating content for the Management School’s social media channels, including YouTube, the website and more! In addition to us offering you work opportunities as they come up, we are always really keen to hear any content ideas you may have. We really want to be able to showcase life as a student in Sheffield as authentically as possible to inspire potential students in the UK and internationally.

This is a paid role and applications will open in September. In the meantime, if you'd like to find out more about the role you can get in touch with Jacob and Will on sums-marketing@sheffield.ac.uk.

Green Impact

The Management School is passionate about promoting positive societal, economic and environmental change. We continue to strive for sustainability through all aspects of our research, teaching and general operation of the School.

The Green Impact Team is a collaboration of both professional service staff and academics, with a shared interest in making the school greener. Since our team was formed in 2019 we have worked on a range of sustainable projects, events and activities. These have included weekly litter picks, a staff room book swap, food bank collections, and more recently working with our local wildlife by building a duck house in the Management School!

We encourage students to contribute to the Green Impact team, so if you have an idea for a project or would like to get involved, please contact the Green Impact Team on sumsgreenimpact@sheffield.ac.uk.
