MBA mentoring programme

Experiential learning is at the heart of the Sheffield MBA, and there is nobody better placed to guide our MBA students than our diverse, multi-generational alumni community. New for 2026-27, our MBA students will participate in a mentoring programme to further their personal, professional and career development. 

As an MBA mentor, you could share your valuable experience while connecting with a pool of talent and reconnecting with your University.

What can the programme offer you?

This is a chance to make a difference by paying it forward to the next generation of Sheffield alumni, while raising your professional profile and securing a pipeline to our MBA graduate talent. 

What can you bring? 

We aim to give you the opportunity to share your expertise, knowledge and insights with a student whose interests align with your specific skillset, your industry or sector of work,  or your professional background. 

Your role will involve

• Providing a ‘sounding board’ for ideas and career dilemmas.
• Sharing professional insights and experiences.
• Offering constructive feedback and challenge assumptions.

How does the scheme work?

• We recommend that mentors and mentees meet at least one hour per month during the programme, either virtually or in person, with additional exchanges such as emails or LinkedIn messages in between. 
• We ask both mentors and mentees to respond to emails within 5 working days.
• The MBA Mentoring programme takes place during semester 2 of the academic year.
