Training Programme
Year 1
In your first year, you'll undertake core and optional modules which will help you to develop your skills and understanding of engineering. The core modules are unique to our CDT and focus on the specific skills you need for your research.
Your optional modules give you an opportunity to improve your skills in areas that are relevant to your research. You'll also learn about sustainability in manufacturing and your role in ED&I, ethics and compliance, as well as developing your project management skills.
Years 2-4
Year 2 is when you officially start your research project, but you’ll also have the opportunity to direct your own training and development through additional modules or external training. Over these three years, we’ll support you to develop your communication skills, leadership, creativity, and provide you with careers and employability training. You’ll also take part in a SME group project, organise a student conference, join hackathons and work on outreach projects. We organise regular industry seminars and visits to industry partners so you can explore where you may like to pursue a career when you finish your doctorate.
