CMI - CLR Joint Event: The Language of Health and Inequality
Event details
This event has taken place.
Description
The Centre for Linguistic Research (CLR) and the Centre for Machine Intelligence (CMI) are hosting an interactive event exploring how language and communication shape experiences of health and inequality, and how AI and data-driven methods can contribute to this work.
The event will bring together researchers from across the University to share insights into how language influences health and wellbeing, how inequalities are represented and reproduced through communication, and how technological and analytical tools can be used responsibly in these and other contexts.
We invite colleagues and PhD students to contribute short research pitches (around three minutes) highlighting how their work connects to these themes, whether through linguistic analysis, technological innovation, ethical design, or community engagement.
The session will also include panel discussions and opportunities for networking, with the aim of building new interdisciplinary collaborations and identifying future directions for joint research and funding.
Date and time: Monday 19th January, 12:30-14:30 (lunch will be available from 12:30).
Venue: Workroom 2, The Wave, 2 Whitham Road, Sheffield, S10 2AH.
