CIV Industrial Advisory Board
Industrial members of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) act as independent advisors or ‘critical friends’, working with academic staff to review and give industry’s perspectives on matters of priority for activities and future direction, particularly relating to Civil, Structural, and Architectural Engineering within the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering.
The IAB therefore acts as an independent forum to advise on development of the infrastructure-focused programmes and support good student development and experience across:
- UG: Civil Engineering; Civil and Structural Engineering; Architectural Engineering; Structural Engineering and Architecture
- PGT: Structural Engineering; Civil Engineering / & Project Management; Water Engineering
IAB organisation & membership:
The IAB is chaired by an industrial member. It meets 3 times per year (towards the start of each semester and summer period), and comprises 10-15 industrial members, typically contributing over a 3-year term, who work with senior members of the academic team. We review annually and regularly refresh membership, aiming to develop a board with a diversity of discipline and sector expertise, different levels of seniority and experience to reflect the diversity of student interest and backgrounds.
