Welcome from the Head of School
Welcome to the School of Law at the University of Sheffield!
Congratulations on securing your place, I am glad that you have made the choice to study with us here in Bartolomé House, the home of the School of Law.
During your time here you will be taught by a supportive team of leading scholars in the field, who are on top of the current issues in both law and criminology both nationally and internationally. You will experience the opportunity to study from a wide range of modules, allowing you to shape your degree to your needs and interests. Throughout your course you will have access to multiple employability and extra-curricular activities, ranging from competitive mooting to being a part of our pro bono team that provides legal support to the local community. In your third year, every student has the option of studying for a whole year in another country in one of our many partner universities. Over a third of our students take up this amazing chance, so do give this some serious thought.
In addition to our academics, within the School we have a large professional services team to help guide you through the day-to-day challenges of university life. We take the wellbeing of our students incredibly seriously, and as well as linking up each student with an Academic Tutor we run a range of activities relating to wellbeing, from drop-in sessions and ‘Stress Less for Assessment Success’ sessions to social activities and informal chats.
Our students go on to do a range of amazing things both during their degree and afterwards. I am sure you will as well, and I am confident that your time with us will prove to be an important part of your personal journey.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
