I am a cultural historian specialising in sound, listening, and auditory cultures of the past. I work specifically on the medieval and early modern Mediterranean with a focus on the Venetian colonial space. My research lies at the intersection of auditory history, decolonial studies, and material and visual culture studies. I am currently leading the research for a MSCA/UKRI Horizon Guarantee project, entitled Sonic Identities in Early Modern Crete and Cyprus 1453-1700: Acoustic Communities at the Interface of Venetian Colonisation and the Ottoman Empire.
