Profile

I am a PhD student with research interests that span across language policy, language in the military, totalitarian regimes, and historical sociolinguistics. I completed an MA in Language and Linguistics at the University of Aberdeen in 2019. I then continued my studies at the University of York, where I graduated with an MSc in Forensic Speech Science in 2020. Prior to my PhD research, I worked as a language manager for an AI-focused company in healthcare, where I led language development and discourse analysis. I also completed a PG Cert in Business Management at the University of Essex in 2024. My doctoral research addresses language policy implementation, devised to promote the nation-building ideology in the First Czechoslovak Republic. I investigate the use of language policy to confront the question of cohesion and effectiveness of the military. My research is funded by the AHRC through the White Rose College of the Arts & Humanities (WRoCAH).
