I am originally from Venezuela, where I graduated in Sociology from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and completed a Master’s in Social Psychology with Distinction from Universidad Simón Bolívar, where I also published my thesis. I later continued my studies at Universidad de Deusto in Spain, gaining Research Proficiency.
My teaching journey began in Caracas, working with the International Movement for Popular Education Fe y Alegría, teaching literacy and numeracy in deprived areas in Caracas. Later, I taught Sociology of Law at Universidad Central de Venezuela, with research focusing on youth offenders, violence, and social programmes.
Since moving to the UK, I have taught Spanish as a Second Language at Bradford College, Leeds Beckett University, and for companies like O2. I joined the University of Sheffield in 2016, where I also organised the Film Screening Event (MLTC ESP), launched in 2017.
In my teaching, I am committed to integrating my social sciences background with learning Spanish. Looking for an inclusive and multicultural approach where students can flourish, but also widen their minds and understand the varieties that accompany the reality of the Hispanic World.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy outdoor activities, such as hiking with university walking groups, and exploring culture through film festivals like Sheffield DocFest—or simply going to the cinema!
