Description
The module follows on from and consolidates the skills acquired in Korean for Non-Specialists 5 and aims to acquire further practical language skills, in listening, reading, speaking and writing. New grammatical patterns and a broader range of vocabulary are introduced and practised. Students will further develop their oral competence in spoken practice through role-plays and discussion activities, focusing on clear and appropriate communication.
Learning outcomes
- Display competence in writing and speaking modern Korean at the upper intermediate level.
- Display a sound knowledge and critical understanding of key aspects of Korean culture and society through the study of the cultural products of Korea, which is a function to teach Korean language.
- Locate and acquire information about Korea from a variety of sources, including teachers, native speakers, newspapers, broadcasts, books and works of reference, and digital sources in both English and Korean.
- Apply new mediation skills and translate precisely at the upper intermediate level.
- Make a presentation on an aspect of Korean culture in Korean appropriate to a range of audiences and contexts at the upper intermediate level.
