We can provide care if you have Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes.
At a diabetic clinic, you can check that you’re well and access specialised advice on how to look after your diabetes.
If you have diabetes you’re encouraged to attend the clinic for regular check-ups and advice. These clinics are run with Dr Portlock
Services
We provide regular diabetes appointments including:
- medication checks
- blood tests
- foot checks
- annual reviews
We also provide regular joint clinics with specialist hospital diabetes teams, including review and psychological support.
If you think you might have diabetes
If you’re concerned you have developed diabetes, make an appointment to see a doctor or nurse practitioner as soon as possible. Bring a sample of urine to your appointment.

If you’re not registered with UHS
We encourage you to register with UHS during your time at University. Diabetes can be unpredictable and having a GP close to you means you can get medical care quickly. It also means we’ll have your medical records.
If your diabetes gets worse
If you’re concerned about your diabetes, please book to see Dr Portlock or speak with your diabetes specialist nurse.
If you’re unwell with your diabetes you can see a GP on the day.
