Ciara holds an MMath&Phys degree from the University of Manchester and completed an MSc and PhD in Fluid Dynamics at the University of Leeds, where her doctoral research focused on characterising aerosol emissions and dispersion from toilet flushing. Following a role as a Research Fellow in Aerosol Deposition in Leeds' School of Civil Engineering, she joined the University of Sheffield in January 2026 as a Research Associate with the Air Hub network.
In June 2026, Ciara took on an additional role embedded in Sheffield City Council’s air quality team through the Grantham Centre. In this position, she synthesises local air quality data and reviews international intervention evidence to inform the council’s upcoming air quality strategy. Alongside this work, her role at Air Hub focuses on indoor air sampling methods and leading online co-design workshops for future indoor air quality research.
Underpinning all of her work, Ciara is passionate about reducing health inequalities and ensuring lived experiences are meaningfully integrated into research.
