What is your vision of a sustainable future?
We are looking for presenters for the University of Sheffield Sustainability Symposium 2026 to deliver a short ‘lightning talk’ on their particular area of expertise, research or interest.
The Symposium, hosted annually by the Grantham Centre Sustainable Futures, will be held at Firth Hall on Tuesday, 6th October 2026, between 9am - 3:30pm. This year’s theme is ‘Creating Visions of Sustainable Futures’, celebrating the next 10 years of the Grantham Centre by imagining a better future for everyone and the work we need to do to create it.
What’s the future of…?
….Work, Politics, Materials, Plastics, Travel, Water, Education, Chemicals, Food, Neighbourhoods, Healthcare, Research, Community, Farming, Energy, Fashion, Landscapes, Democracy, Science, Consumption, Housing, Adaptation, Justice.
These can be hyper-specific or wider concepts, all that is needed is that you are passionate and knowledgeable and can deliver a 5 minute talk on the subject that will engage a lay audience.
The talks should be 5 minutes, 5 slides maximum.
