Description

Interested in pursuing a career in sustainability? Join the Grantham Centre for our ‘Careers for Sustainable Futures’ event this November. We’re welcoming back two of our alumni to talk about their inspiring career journeys and share some valuable insights, hints and tips to help you secure a role in this rewarding industry.

In the third event of our series, you will hear from Dr Mira Lieberman (Project Officer for Safer and Sustainable School Journeys, Sheffield City Council), and Dr Charles Gillott (Senior Engineer at Property and Buildings division, WSP).

This is the perfect opportunity to explore the diverse roles within sustainability and learn how you can apply your PhD skills to deliver real-world impact. So come along and join our friendly community for this free lunchtime session followed by a Q&A and networking.

Tea and coffee will be provided.

Places are limited so make sure to grab your ticket soon! The event is open to anyone interested in a career in sustainability.

About our speakers

Dr Mira Lieberman

Mira is a Project Officer at Sheffield City Council, working on an interdisciplinary project between City Transport and Public Health in Sheffield. The research project titled Safer and Sustainable School Journeys aims to increase 10-13 year olds' safer and sustainable travel to schools through an intervention based on behaviour change techniques, as well as hardware measures.

Mira holds a PhD in environmental accounting from the University of Sheffield, where she researched corporate accountability towards hedgehogs in the agrochemical industry.

Dr Charles Gillott

Charles is a Senior Engineer in WSP's Property and Buildings division, specialising in Whole Life Carbon and The Circular Economy. His work is centred on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings through the application of material efficiency strategies, use of innovative materials and systems and increased reuse and recycling.

This builds on Charles' previous academic career with the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MAC) and the Resources, Infrastructure Systems and Built Environment (RISE) research group to deliver measurable emissions savings towards decarbonise the global built environment.
