Making a major gift
You can choose to make your gift in a number of ways to suit your preferences, your dedicated Philanthropy Manager will be on hand to guide you. Below are some of the ways you can give.

Making a gift by bank transfer
For gifts over £1,500 our preferred method of giving is bank transfer, as no fees will be incurred on your transaction.
Please get in touch with your Philanthropy Manager to request our bank account details, or you can email giving@sheffield.ac.uk.
Pledges and multi-year gifts
Did you know that you can pledge a gift to be paid at a later stage or over multiple years? By setting up a Direct Debit, you can give on a schedule that suits you.
Donor Advised Funds
To give through a Donor Advised Fund, such as CAF, NPT, Prism or your bank’s own Donor Advised Fund, you'll need to request a grant distribution from the fund administrator.
Please quote 'University of Sheffield' or our exempt charity number: X1089.
Tax effective giving from the UK
- With CAF Payroll Giving your gift will come out of your salary directly, before income tax. Your employer may also match gifts through Payroll Giving.
- If you're a higher rate tax payer, you can also claim back the difference between the tax you’ve paid on your donation and what the University of Sheffield receives.
- You can also benefit from tax relief when donating land, property or shares or by giving through a limited company.
Giving from overseas
- If you're based in the United States, you can give tax effectively through our 501(c)(3).
- We also offer tax effective giving for those living in Canada and Europe.
