Every week the MLTC  German speaking team (Andrew, Engracia, Franziska, Giles, Jonny und Jutta )meet with students for two sessions of Kaffee und Kuchen. The formula is simple: grab a coffee (or any other drink), and join our chat in German. Kaffee und Kuchen  is all about using German in an informal setting. After all, that is what language is intended for: talking to each other!

We offer sessions for different groups of learners: one is for more advanced students (intermediate intensive and up), and the other is for beginners of German. However, it really doesn't matter when you pull up a chair to join in : you are welcome whatever your level of German.

Now that we are all back on campus these coffee breaks take place in the Interval Kitchen and Bar,  in the Student Union. Often students bring their own topics to the coffee mornings. That means that one week we may discuss politics and the  next we are comparing notes on our university studies. Then again, we sometimes just talk about puppies.

Our teaching team consists of speakers from different parts of Germany and Austria, so you'll get acquainted with different accents too..

German coffee breaks are open to all our students, from beginners to nearly finished, which makes them a great opportunity to get to know other German students. And finally, we occasionally invite 'special guests' like Moritz from Germany who is doing his PhD here in Sheffield or Erasmus students.
