The MPlan Urban Studies and Planning, our flagship four year undergraduate degree with an integrated masters, is now accredited by the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI). With a unique blend of academic and live project work, field trips, site visits and work experience, the MPlan has long been recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute in the UK.
Now graduates from India can also take advantage of the professional recognition offered by an accredited degree, which counts towards Membership of their national planning institute.
Dr Glyn Williams is a Reader in International Development and Planning at The University of Sheffield, with extensive research interests in social marginalisation, political participation and urban governance in India. He said: “This recognition is really important to us as a welcoming and collaborative department with an international research agenda. It’s great that we’ve got other international town planning institutes recognising the work that we’ve always had recognised by the RTPI in the UK. This recognition will make for a really easy transition into professional employment for any Indian graduates on the MPlan course.”
