There has never been a greater need to develop sustainable and green energy. Research at Sheffield, and in collaboration with UKAEA, is looking at how fusion technologies can be utilised to unlock a new era of clean energy production, free from harmful emissions and radioactive waste.

Professor Shuisheng He has been appointed as the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Chair in Fusion Technology at the University of Sheffield. This prestigious co-funded appointment marks a significant milestone in the University’s long-term strategic partnership with the UKAEA.

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Fusion Power is a collaboration between six of the UK's top universities - Durham, Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford, Sheffield and York.

Fusion Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training

Working together with the Fusion Opportunities in Skills, Training Education & Research (FOSTER) programme at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and the UK industry supply chain, this CDT offers bespoke training for UK STEM graduates, to learn how to design, build and operate the first UK fusion energy power plant.
