"What the University of Sheffield offers me is more than just an excellent reputation. It offers me the world-class, satisfying experience of studying at one of the world's best automatic control and system engineering departments."

"The course was up-to-date with the current control engineering development, where I also learnt to use reinforced learning to control a manufacturing process. The lecturer is not only experts in their own field, but they are also approachable."

"Moreover, the learning modules & facilities are also complete. I was also thrilled to experience the Bytronic Kits, which represent miniature manufacturing process by using the state-of-the-art hardware, Siemens S7-1500. Furthermore, I also managed to fly a steel ball with National Instrument's LABView."

"As a professional in the automation and control industry for more than 10 years, this is just the course I was looking for. A balance between the practical and research module content."

Extra-curricular achievements

"I'm over the moon that I finished my first term with all distinction grades. The support that ACSE department offer goes beyond the course, they also allowed us to join extracurricular and competition activity."

"For example, I participated in Map the System, a global, system-thinking based competition held by University of Oxford to offer solution for particular problem in the world. I also join a Sunfire team, a one-of-the kind student-built cooled rocket engine in the UK."

Careers

"It always been my dream to build a better and cleaner energy innovation for my country, Indonesia. As a beneficiary of a fully-funded scholarship of Indonesia's Endowment Fund for Education (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan Republik Indonesia), I always delighted and honored to return what I've got from here."

"Therefore, I want to continue my research in Indonesia by building a control system for a co-pyrolysis (waste-to-energy) process and optimize its performances, using the Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Reinforced Learning (RL) techniques at National Research and Innovation Agency, Republic of Indonesia (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional) which I've got during my study. Furthermore, I'm keen to pursue my PhD degree that hone my research skills."

Sheffield

"Everywhere was just a walking distance! I don't need a public transport to go to the lecture hall everyday, as it is just a 7 minutes walk from my accomodation. The living cost, food and beverage is also very affordable! I can eat fish and chips with just 3.5 pounds, which is a real deal. The people were also very warm and welcoming, and the city is perfect for studying as it's offer a calm and quiet environment. If a short-trip is needed, just head down to Peak District."

"As a Muslim, I have no problem practising here, as it is very safe and prayer/multi-faith rooms were provided by the University. I even can do the Friday prayer in the University! They also offer the English Support class for their student to do well in the report and do presentation in English better."
