CoMo brings together researchers from across the University who share a common interest in the recent past. We promote interdisciplinary and collaborative research that connects the past and present. 

Our specialisms span the globe and our membership stretches across disciplinary boundaries, to include staff and postgraduate researchers from Law, Architecture, Journalism, English, Modern Languages, East Asian Studies, and History.

Our activities include:

  • Work-in-Progress sessions for researchers to receive feedback from colleagues with common interests from across a range of disciplines
  • Networking events to connect historically-minded researchers from across the university
  • An annual symposium placing Sheffield researchers’ work in conversation with an external speaker under a common theme
  • Dedicated postgraduate-led programming, including a postgraduate research seminar and social events
