About the MIDAS facility

Established in partnership with the Department of Energy and Climate Change, MIDAS supports internationally competitive research and development in the management and disposal of radioactive wastes from the nuclear fuel cycle.

MIDAS uniquely provides academic, public and private sector organisations with hands-on user access to state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation, utilising medium-scale radioactive inventories.

Our experienced team can provide guidance to meet your research needs, with space to accommodate around 40 personnel in a high-quality research, training and office environment. 

The facility is operated by the University of Sheffield's Department of Materials Science and Engineering, internationally recognised for the excellence and impact of its research in civil nuclear energy.
