As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the school and your chosen course.
Where to go on arrival
You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.00pm on your offer holder day, but you are also invited to join us for a networking session with refreshments, so please refer to the schedule below for details about that.
Your arrival location is: The Diamond, Lecture Theatre 5 - please read the information below for details about the specific session you will be attending. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.
If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.
You can view The Diamond on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.
When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at our subject activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, we will be unable to accommodate any additional un-booked visitors. However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours whilst the subject activities are running.

Our staff and student ambassadors will take you on a tour to our department and research labs, where we do research in the fields of structural engineering, water engineering and geotechnics.
Bridge Building
Working in groups, offer holders will get the opportunity to design and build a bridge structure to consider both performance and sustainability.
Staff and student ambassadors will be on hand to talk through design choices and to help with the optimisation of the structural form (something which we do a lot of research on here at Sheffield).
At the end of the session, the designs the offer holders have created will be tested and parents/supporters will be invited to see the testing.
Student Support Talk
While offer holders are taking part in the bridge building project, parents/supporters will have a chance to attend our student support talk and speak to our staff about the exciting opportunities that are available to you and where a degree from Sheffield can lead.
